Thanks for your help in putting me in contact with the relevant Ford guys who have confirmed that my XY Ute is a genuine GS (Rallye pack)which has made my day.

According to Phillip, "The XY was built 07-1971 with factory 302W (Still has original motor) and column auto. Ive just had the certification letter from Ford Australia confirming it is an original GS (Rallye Pack). Unfortunately the previous owner replaced the original column shift with a floor shift however I still have the original linkages and parts to put it back to original...just need the time!

The ute was originally Bronze wine with tu-tone saddle trim however is now Vermillion Fire with Black trim. The current colour scheme looks fantastic however will one day put it back to original. The interior is a bit sad and could do with restoration but for now I'm happy just to drive it.

The ute was imported to New Zealand from Queensland in 1996 and I bought it in 2000 off the guy who imported it. It still has the winsdcreen rego sticker from Queensland and wouldn't mind trying to track down a bit of its history!.... again...just need the time!

My 3 year old says I'm not allowed to sell the ute because he's going to
drive it when he's older!
