Paul's (P)ride
Paul's XY Fairmont GS is very special to him. Owned for around 5 years he is eventually going to restore it back to original.
Paul's has tracked down its heritage right back to the original owner and receipt. I have just basically cleaned it up and rebuilt the motor. It was originally ordered through Jack Brabham by a chap by the name of Brian Grace. He owned the car from 1971 until 1986 and it was his first new car he had ever purchased (so he went for a few options). He was about forty years old when he purchased it.
The options he ordered include.
FORD OPTIONS - Verified by Ford
ENGINE Y - 302 CID 2V
TRANSMISSION B - T BAR Cruisomatic
PAINT O - Yellow Ochre
TRIM S - Light Saddle
OPTIONS 03 - Seatbelts
08 - Beige Vinyl Roof
13 - Heavy Duty Battery
45 - Limited Slip Diff
48 - Rallye Pack (GS)
68 - Sports Handling Suspension 302
(Basically same as automatic XW GT including 16:1 GT steering
box)
71 - Super Fringe Deluxe Push Button Radio
DEALER OPTIONS - Verified by first owner (Brian Grace now in his late 70's) Wheels/Tyres ER70 7x14 inch Polished alloys (Jelly Beans same as Jack Brabham specials) with red walled tyres (still trying to locate an original set as a previous owner misplaced them after installing GS wheel trims which this car was not delivered with. ROH on the car were dealer fitted
Tow bar
Wheathershield
sun visor
Gearlock
petrol lock cap
Wheellocknuts
It has a factory square base aerial
Brian also said he had ordered a reflective orange/Red GS stripe as a safety feature.
I am eventually going to restore it back to original. I have attached photos of it as it is today and as it was on the day Brian took delivery in 1971.I have owned it for 5years and have just tidied it up and rebuilt motor .
I will eventually replace vinyl roof and reflective stripe and hopefully track down a set of original mags.
Hopefully you can put this on your website in rides.
I once had a brain fade and listed this for sale on ebay with a high reserve as the bidding came close I wanted to change my mind but could not thankfully ebay pulled the add on a technicality because they said I had spammed the description I very happy with that decision from ebay and it still lives safely in the garage.
Thanks Paul
