1970 Chrysler VG E34 Valiant Pacer Track Pack - Hemi Orange … $134,990

"Hemi Pacer. Boy Racer" may have been the marketeers catch cry for the Hemi Pacer. But when it came to motor racing, the gurus at Tonsley Park were determined to build “the hottest production six in Australia”. And with the Option E34 Track Pack Pacer they really ramped things up turning the Pacer marketing package into a true Bathurst race car.

Chrysler fitted the E34 Pacer with a four-barrel carburettor, high-performance cam, shot-peened crank and conrods, high-flow oil pump, better bearings, a dual-plate clutch, larger radiator, torque-limiting engine-mount strut and windage tray pushing power output to 235hp or 175kW in a car that weighed in at 1340kg. Fitted with the huge 35 gallon fuel tank, this was a true race winning formula. Come check out this rare beast at our Sydney Showroom.

On it's debut at the Sandown Three-Hour race held a few weeks prior to the Bathurst 500, Norm Beechey in a 4BBL Pacer finished third behind the Phase 2 GT-HO Falcon driven by Allan Moffat and the Torana XU-1 driven by Colin Bond. So there were high expectations for the E34 at Bathurst. The E34 driven by Des West and Peter Brown took control of Class D from the start, with West actually leading the race outright at one stage. However, a flat spot under load in the carburettor prevented the E34 from a better result with the West/Brown E34 taking out Class D to win by six laps and finishing two laps behind the pair of two-barrel factory Pacers that placed 4th and 5th in the Great Race.

For sale is an exceptional example of the E34 Track Pack Pacer complete with original owners log books. The same Pacer model that raced in the 1970 Hardie-Ferodo 500.
