1973 Holden HQ One Tonner 253 V8 - Purr Pull

What a beauty!!! For sale from Brisbane, QLD is one hell of a nice HQ Holden One Tonner. In factory PURR PULL, this 1973 HQ One Tonner has been fully restored with no regard to cost to create a simply stunning oh so Aussie flat bed Ute. Factory 253 V8 and 4 speed manual with only two owners from new and original LOG BOOKS.

No expense spared restoration of a very unique Holden One Tonner. As the Holden Historical Services verification letter notes, this Utility was built in Purr-Pull with Black trim with a 253 V8, 4 speed M20 manual gearbox and the Salisbury 3.55:1 rear end. The HQ was built as a cab chassis in Adelaide and assembled in Melbourne in November, 1973 before being retailed on the 11th of January through Preston Motors P/L of Albury, VIC to a Mr. Willian Henness of Murray Valley Honey in Walwa, Victoria.

Purchased by the current owner in 2019, the HQ received a frame off bare metal restoration by Classic Car Restorations in Brisbane, QLD and is supplied with photos and receipts of the restoration process. Prior to restoration, the HQ presented with a rust and damage free body and still features all its original factory panels. Only the best materials were used in the restoration including clear over base PPG paints in Purr Pull with Glacier White bonnet stripes. At the time of the body restoration, the GTS flutes were welded into the front guards, the chassis was powder coated, a brushed stainless tray frame with stained and cleared timber floor and polished stainless rear guards were fitted. All the original chrome has been chrome plated and GTS mirrors and badges fitted.

Mechanically, the 253 V8 was fully rebuilt by Marty White Engine in Brisbane, with some upgrades including a Quick Fuel carby, mild cam, upgraded manifold, reconditioned M20 gearbox and diff. The HQ also has a brand new twin system exhaust, with new extractors, reconditioned radiator, brakes, shocks and suspension. The HQ is fitted with reconditioned factory power steering.

On the inside, the HQ features a dealer fitted GTS dash and back bucket seats with new GTS steering wheel and consul fitted. The black bucket seats are original as are the door cards. All instruments work as does the Air Chief dealer fitted AM radio. The HQ is fitted with new front windscreen, new carpet and new hood lining with reconditioned sun visors. The rear window features the original dealer sticker from Preston Motors.

The HQ is riding on restored 15x8” GTS rims on the front and 15x10” GTS rims on the rear with brand new Galaxy R1 235/60R15 front and 295/50R15 rear tyres.
