For sale is a rare and highly desirable HSV SV300 with only 59,748km from new. For sale in Templestowe, Melbourne.

While prices for all the chrome-bumper Iron Lions are booming and who wouldn't want one of the last thumping Gen-F2 GTSR W1s, the VXII-generation SV300 is still an affordable ‘classic’ that we believe has yet to have it's day.

Limited to a production run of 100 units officially (actually 134 were built), the SV300 was equipped with a 300kW 5.7-litre V8 and robust T56 six speed manual transmission. The SV300 was the fourth HSV to wear the SV nomenclature, usually reserved for the brand’s most complete and significant performance packages.

The SV300 borrowed the then-absent GTS’s Callaway-developed LS1 (dubbed the C4B), an aluminium block variant with CNC-machined billet throttle body, steel roller rocker arms, titanium valve spring retainers, stainless steel valves, CNC-ported heads, high-flow exhaust and Hydratrak limited-slip differential. The SV300 also incorporated the new ‘Touring 2’ baseline suspension as part of the VXII range, which added extra toe control links at the rear to aid and improve handling.

But while some thought of it as a mere GTS replacement, the SV300 was a more rounded and complete package, blending the mod-cons found in the Senator and VX Senator 300 with the power of the GTS. This was the era that saw HSV make great strides as a company, reaching unprecedented production volumes and moving ever closer to producing a sedan that could compete as equals with the best Europe could produce.

At $94,950 when new, this was definitely a high-end executive express and today makes great sense as a collectible HSV and terrific modernish Aussie Muscle car.

For sale is a stunning example of the SV300. Build No. 91 is totally original and presented in the signature HSV Racing Green Pearl with Anthracite black leather with mustard highlights and SV300 logos in the backrest. This three owner SV300 is supplied with the original HSV Compendium, owners log books and manuals and has covered a genuine 59,748 km from new.

Mechanically this SV300 is as it left the HSV factory and has been lovingly maintained with regular HSV servicing as noted in the log books. The interior is spotless and there is a spare piece of the mustard leather material for safe keeping. The owner has recently fitted Pirelli 235/40/R18 tyres to the original SV300 alloy rims.

The car is unmarked, with no stone chips not damage and even the underside of the front bumper is unmarked. The interior is also in incredible condition with only minor wear to the gear knob.

The SV300 is currently unregistered but has recently passed a Victorian roadworthy so is ready to register. Inspection by appointment in Templestowe, Melbourne. (Ref: 5921)
