Famously, the 3rd generation Monaro was reborn in the late 1990s when a group a Holden designers and engineers led by Holden chief stylist, Mike Simcoe got together and designed and built a concept car that they smuggled onto the Holden stand at the 1998 Sydney Motor Show. Without GM top brass knowing they literally blew everything else on four wheels away. And with so much attention from the media and customers wanting this new Monaro, GM simply had to build it.
