Now for sale is a rare opportunity to secure a genuine 1973 Holden LJ Torana GTR XU-1, for sale from our Sydney Showroom.

Aussie Muscle Car fans will remember the 1972 rain-soaked Hardie Ferodo 500 won by 27 year old Peter Brock driving a Holden Dealer Team prepared Torana LJ XU-1. The first of Brock's record nine victories, Brock finished a lap ahead of Queensland racer John French driving an XY Falcon GT-HO Phase III despite being penalised one minute at his last pit stop for starting his car while the HDT crew were still re-fuelling. A further lap behind was the Valiant Charger E49 of Doug Chivas. The Hardie-Ferodo 500 created two legends on that day. Brock and the "Giant Killer" Torana XU-1.

For sale is a genuine beautifully restored April 1973 Holden LJ GTR XU-1 Torana spec’d in factory Sunburst Metallic with Black vinyl trim. This Torana XU-1 is presented in totally correct factory specification. Built at the Acacia Ridge Holden Plant in Brisbane, the XU-1 was sold by Adelong Motors, Adelong in country NSW in late April of 1973. The LJ is running the factory warranty replacement NP engine block with correct head, intake manifold and original date code correct gearbox, diff housing and diff centre. And that wonderful Premium 98 is still pumped through this little beasts veins through the original triple 175 CD-2 Zenith Stromberg’s. Even the original Big Nut Master Cylinder is still in its rightful place.

Gears are swapped with the original 899 Aussie close ratio M20 gearbox and this XU-1 was built with a 3.36:1 Banjo (G95) LSD axle. Look closely at the gallery photos and you will see still in place the factory diff tag, gearbox markings and correct twin pipe exhaust.

The interior still features the original seat coverings with new door cards, reconditioned seat belts, new headlining and carpets. The XU-1 is supplied with an Air Ranger AM Transistor radio however, this is not fitted to the car at present. The Torana is showing 127,172 miles on the clock.

The XU-1 features a new tank and tank cover and a new boot mat. The XU-1 is fitted with Bathurst Globe style rims with excellent tyres. There is a spare, jack and tools with the car.
