1973 Ford ZF Fairlane 500 351 V8 - Yellow Glo Unrestored ... $39,500

An all-new, Australian-designed ZF series Fairlane was launched in April 1972, and like it's XA stablemate featured a swoopier sexier coke bottle design compared to the boxy design of the ZC and ZD Fairlane 500 models.

The wild colours and 302 and 351 V8 engine choices remained the same as the earlier Fairlanes but one thing changed dramatically and that was in the options department where a lot more goodies were available. Air conditioning, Power Windows, Eight Track stereo tape players and Golde Sunroofs were just some of the options available on the big Fairlane.

For sale is a stand out example of the ZF Fairlane 500. Optioned with the sought after 351 Cleveland V8, T-Bar automatic, Air conditioning, Power Steering, Beige Vinyl roof and Superfringe radio, this factory Yellow Glo beauty is a testament to how well the owners of this Fairlane have treated the car. This Fairlane was ordered with these specific colour/options by the wife of the local Earth Mover in Benalla, Victoria and was retained by the same family for 42 years. The local Police Sergeant purchased the car from the family in 2015 and the current owner purchased it from the Policeman when he retired.

Originally sold by Duncombe Ford from Benalla, Victoria in February 1973, this One-off survivor is supplied with the original owners log books and manuals, extensive service history and two sets of original keys with the the dealer supplied key pouch plus the original owners RACV membership.

A super solid rust and damage free body in mostly original paint with original paint in the door jambs, engine bay and boot. The original Beige vinyl roof is still fitted and in excellent condition as is the chrome, stainless and glass.

Mechanically the Fairlane has been thoroughly maintained and drives well. The Fairlane still runs the original Motorcraft carby, wiper motor, power steering, operational Air-conditioning, fan shroud and horns. The Fairlane is also fitted with a factory dual exhaust system.

The previous owner fitted extractors and a new aftermarket exhaust but the original exhaust manifolds come with the car.

On the inside the Fairlane underlines why Australians loved the big Fairlane. Spacious with a plethora of luxuries of the day including factory Power steering, intergrated Air-conditioning, T-Bar automatic with centre console this was certainly a nice place to be, whether as the driver or passenger. Like the XA Falcon, the dashboard was designed to wrap around the driver like a cockpit and there are plenty of gauges to keep you informed as you drive. Faux wood grain inserts in the dash and door cards, courtesy lighting front and back, remote drivers exterior mirror and plush pile carpets finish off the luxury feel. And new for the ZF model, the column mounted locking ignition.

Open the boot and the factory fitted carpet with spare tyre and factory tools are in their place.

The Fairlane is riding on the original 14x6" steel wheels with red walled tyres Nankang 215/65R14 all round with excellent day one Fairlane 500 hub caps. A new replacement square based aerial is supplied with the car.

This is an One-off sensational survivor fully documented and heavily optioned ZF Fairlane 500 in a standout colour. Certainly a Fairlane collectors dream come true!
