1971 XY Falcon GTHO Phase 3 ... (SOLD)

We are delighted to offer for sale a genuine 1971 XY Falcon GTHO Phase III - Build No. 14/300. Available for your inspection in our Sydney Showroom. Offers invited over $750,000.

According to the recently published 1971 XY Falcon GTHO Register, this genuine Monza Green XY GTHO was originally sold through G.M. Jackson P/L of Launceston, Tasmania to a Mr. Paul Von See who collected the car on 31st May, 1971 and was already racing the GTHO at Symmons Plains raceway on Sunday 6th June, 1971. In the quarter mile sprint, Von See recorded a 14.3.

One of the 50 early Homologation cars, this GTHO is one of 23 GTHOs painted in Monza Green, is a one of one build with options selected and is also believed to be one of the first GTHO Phase IIIs to be registered. Purchased by the second owner also from Tasmania circa 1972 with 13,000 miles on the clock, the car served as a daily driver for the then 19 year old bush man. Warned by a neighbour who was a Police Inspector that he'd surely loose his driver's licence in the GTHO, the second owner traded the car after about 12 months on a new Yellow Glow XA GT Falcon also through G.M Jackson P/L. Even though he spent a fortune on the XA, he could never get it to go as well as the GTHO. And, yes, he did loose his driver's license in the XA GT!

A true survivor, the GTHO made it's way to the mainland and has spent time in Queensland (1984-1988), The Northern Territory (1988-1989), Victoria (1989-2004) and eventually with the current owner also located in Victoria over the past 17 years. During his custodianship, the HO has been sparingly used and was freshened up using the skills of GTHO expert Mr. Frank Portelli from Melbourne. The car was resprayed and retrimmed during this time. The XY GTHO comes with a huge ownership and receipt file. There are also letters of verification from both The Ford Motor Company and an ACCHS Deluxe report confirming the specifications of this car. Also included is the G.M. Jackson ad from March 1973 when it was sold to the second owner, plus registration transfer documents and receipts of purchase tracking ownership changes over the years. The GTHO is showing a genuine 88,524 miles which is believed to be genuine given the ownership documentation trail supplied with the car.

XY GTHO Build No. 14 is just back from our detailer and absolutely glows. The car is now ready for its next custodian. This is an important XY GTHO, an early build and one of the first 50 cars that were used by Ford to gain CAMS Homologation approval for the race cars. Although the original engine block is gone, the car retains the important GTHO internals, the 780 Holley carby, the Rev Limiter, Brake proportioning valve, Vacuum tank, the close ratio Top Loader gearbox, heavy duty HO tail shaft and the race spec Daytona Limited Slip nodular iron 31 spline 3.5:1 9". Interestingly, the HO comes with a receipt showing the engine rebuilt by Dick Johnson's Brisbane Engine Centre in 1984. Yes, racing certainly runs deep in the veins of this HO.

This is a GTHO that was used in the manner that Ford designed it to be used. An admired car, a car that has left an indelible mark of great memories on the lives of it's past owners over more than 50 years. The XY GTHO - a car that ranks in Australia and New Zealand as the most coveted Aussie Muscle car. Now for sale and ready to be enjoyed by the next lucky owner.
