Rarely available 1970 Mini Cooper S Mk II for sale from Adelaide, SA. Asking price is $50,000.

The Mini was the brain child of Sir Alec Issigonis and became the best selling British car in history with a production run of 5.3 million cars from the launch in 1959. This ground-breaking design, with its front wheel drive, transverse engine, sump gearbox, 10-inch wheels, and phenomenal space efficiency, was still being manufactured in 2000 and has been the inspiration for almost all small front-wheel drive cars produced since the early 1960s.

Of the Minis, the most collectable and sought after is the Mini Cooper S. Weighing in at 635 kg these pocket rocket Minis had the power to weight ratio to enable them to become giant killers in their day. In fact, the Cooper S etched its name in stone by twice winning the Monte Carlo rally. And in 1966 the Mini Cooper S blitzed the field finishing first, second and third. At Mount Panorama, Bathurst in the Hardie Ferodo 500 in 1966, the Minis took the chequered flag filling the first NINE places!!! No other car in the races history has got close to repeating such dominance!!!

For sale is an original Royal Blue with White roof 1970 Mini Cooper S running the matching numbers 1275cc 4 cylinder engine and 4 speed manual gearbox. Totally stock standard mechanically with twin SU's and stock factory exhaust. This stunning Cooper S rides on Minilite style mag wheels with brand new tyres. In the care of the current Mini enthusiast owner for the past 20 years, recent works include fitting of a new dual fuel system from NOS fuel tanks, fuel lines, fuel pump, carby overhaul and choke mechanism to open both chokes. The owner has also replaced the rack & pinion steering and overhauled the brakes.

On the inside the Mini is pretty much stock original with the exception of a timber steering wheel and an after-market short shifter, new carpets and felt underlay, new door rubbers and new glass rubbers.

The Mini Cooper S is in solid unrestored condition with minor rust and paint repairs required to the roof, passengers door, bonnet area and side chrome trim. (see photos)

This little pocket rocket drives like a dream and is certainly a pre-requisite for any muscle car collection.
