Now for sale from our Sydney Showroom is this 1974 XB GS Fairmont Hardtop, finished in Emerald Fire with Black trim.  A Y code 302 Cleveland now upgraded to 351 Cleveland V8, FMX auto and 9" disc brake rear end.

This well presented XB GS Hardtop was originally specified in Yellow Sand with Parchment trim and running the 302 V8 Cleveland engine, paired with a T-Bar automatic gearbox and optioned with the GS Rallye Pack and heated rear window. In 2005, the then owner restored the Fairmont Hardtop in Emerald Fire and retrimmed the GS in Black vinyl trim. At the same time the original 302 V8 was swapped for a 351 Cleveland, an FMX gearbox replaced the factory C-4 and the Borg Warner diff was upgraded to a 9" XB GT disc brake rear end. In addition, the GS got the XB GT tail shaft, tramp rods and front and rear sway bars. (The original matching numbers long 302 V8 is supplied with the purchase).

Originally sold by Warrego Motors in Charleville/Quilpie far western Queensland, this XB GS Fairmont features a good solid body shell which has been well restored and presents in excellent condition throughout. Mechanically, the XB GS has recently had the FMX gearbox, brakes and radiator reconditioned and power steering fitted. The GS has covered only 2,569 miles since the restoration.

On the inside, the Fairmont features a full retrim with new black trim, door cards, hood lining and carpeting with the genuine dash, gauges, steering wheel and console still in their place. In the boot is a spare steel wheel, factory tools and boot carpet.

The GS is riding on Competition Alloy wheels in a period correct Jelly Bean style with 235/60x15s on the front and BF Goodrich 295/50R15s on the rear. There are also front and rear spoilers and an XA Superbird rear window louvre.

Overall, this car is a well-maintained super solid mechanically reliable cruiser. The Fairmont comes with a verification letter from Ford Australia and a receipt folder.
