The XC Falcon Cobra has certainly earned its place in the Australian history books with the famous 1, 2 win at Bathurst in the capable hands of Allan Moffat and Colin Bond. But it is as a marketing exercise that the XC Falcon Cobra has really excelled. For the first time, Ford offered a limited edition build of only 400. Each car featured an individually numbered plaque located on the dash, sequentially numbered from 1—400. 200 XC Cobras were fitted with the 5.8L 351 Cleveland V8 and 200 received the 4.9L 302 Cleveland V8. Within the build, Ford offered for the first time a designated number of the Cobras that were equipped with automatic or manual gearboxes as well as options including power steering, power windows and factory integrated air conditioning. All Cobras were fitted with dual exhausts, 4 wheel disc brakes, LSD 9" rear end and Option 96 Cobra dress up pack which included front and rear spoilers, painted bumpers and interior and exterior Cobra badging.
For sale is Cobra Build No. 207. One of 370 Cobras known as Option 96 spec, it was built as one of the regular road-going versions, and one of only 100 XC Cobras built with the 302 Cleveland V8 and 4 speed manual gearbox combo. Cobra 207 features the standard Cobra features starting with the GS Rallyee Pack option and adding dual exhausts, 4 wheel disc brakes, LSD 9" rear end and Option 96 Cobra dress up pack which included front and rear spoilers, painted bumpers and interior and exterior Cobra badging.
Cobra # 207 was originally ordered by Mr. Glen Killen through Trevan Ford of Lismore, NSW. He on-sold the car to the second owner a Mr. Robertson in 2001 who sold it to Mr. Nathan Dixon of Townsville, QLD in 2002 who then sold it to the current owner in 2006. The XC is in unrestored condition featuring mostly original paint which is showing some crows feet, minor rust and blemishes. The interior has been retrimmed in incorrect trim so will need a retrim. However, the dash, crash pad, gauges and steering wheel are all in good condition and everything is working properly. The interior features the original carpet, hood lining with a minor tear, excellent door cards and original glass. The Cobra is complete with the original owners log books and the car is showing 142,871 Klms on the clock.
Mechanically, the matching numbers 302 Cleveland has been removed from the car and is supplied with the car. The motor comes with the original heads, crank and rods but will need a rebuild. The Cobra is currently running a 351 2V Cleveland engine that runs and drives and was rebuilt in the early 2000s. The gearbox has also been rebuilt with receipts and the diff is in good condition.
This car presents a rare opportunity to purchase a rare manual XC Cobra at the lower end of the price scale. Once in your hands the world is your oyster. Vehicles offered for sale through AMCS are the responsibility of the Owner / Seller. AMCS acts as the Seller's agent and relies fully on the information provided by the Seller of the vehicle in the advertising and sale of each vehicle. AMCS takes no responsibility for the accuracy or veracity of the information provided by the Seller.
When a Buyer wishes to speak to the owner or inspect a vehicle listed for sale on the AMCS web site, AMCS will request a copy of the potential buyers driver's license or a business card along with an email address and phone number. This is provided to the seller as confirmation of the legitimacy of the buyer and the seller is then asked to contact the potential buyer to discuss the car and set up an inspection if required.
The Buyer must make his own enquiries and inspections regarding the condition, authenticity and veracity of the vehicle and any statements made by the Seller, and satisfy themselves in all aspects prior to purchasing the car from the Seller. The Buyer understands there is no warranty or guarantee offered by either the Seller or AMCS.
If upon inspection the Buyer is not satisfied with the car for any reason and does not wish to proceed with the purchase the owner is advised and any personal details are deleted from AMCS records.
If the Buyer is satisfied with the car and a price is agreed to with the Seller a formal tax invoice is prepared by AMCS and sent to the Buyer for payment to the AMCS audited Trust Account. AMCS also receives a formal Bill of Sale from the owner stating the car is free of encumbrance and noting banking details for the transaction. Once AMCS receives the total payment cleared into its trust account a transfer is then made to the Seller.
AMCS receives a fee of 7.5% (incl. GST) of the sale price for assisting the Seller to sell the vehicle. There is no fee or Buyer's premium charged to the Buyer.
