With the new XC Falcon/Fairmont range, Ford announced a revised version of their upmarket Fairlane in May 1976. To differentiate the Falcon and Fairlane models, Ford's designers extended the front and rear sections and added a rectangular grille section and four circular headlamps to give the Fairlane an unique and quite imposing appearance. The ZH Fairlane was available in two trim levels, the 500 and the Marquis, with the 302ci V8 as the standard motor, and the 351ci V8 as an optional extra.
Ford switched to the metric 4.9 and 5.8 designations with the introduction of the XC/ZH models and, in 5.8 guise, the Cleveland developed 217bhp at 4500 rpm with a four-barrel carburettor to meet the latest ADRs. As expected of a full-size luxury car, the Fairlane came with an extensive list of standard equipment including power steering, automatic transmission and a very comfortable cabin trimmed in cloth upholstery.
Mechanically, the Fairlane was fitted with disc brakes all round, a limited-slip diff and steel-belted radial tyres. With a list price of $10,049, the ZH Fairlane was a substantial improvement over its predecessors and put an end to the decline in sales of the Ford Fairlane.

Remarkably, this Fairlane has covered a genuine 255,906 Kilometres from new but presents in the condition of a car that has traveled a mere 60,000 Klms. Originally a Melbourne based Ford Executive car, the Fairlane was then purchased by a Mr. Leigh Harwood also from Melbourne who owned the car until 2006. It was then sold through AMCS to a Sydney Accountant, then to a Melbourne Ford collector and is currently owned by a Sydney based enthusiast. The Fairlane has covered 21,000 Klms since 2006 so it has been used, enjoyed and well maintained.
Running the matching numbers 351 Cleveland, FMX automatic transmission and the LSD Ford 9-inch diff, this was a muscle car in every sense of the word but luxuriously packaged as a very comfortable full sized cruiser. Factory optioned with the Tow Package, Black Vinyl Roof, Outback Package and AM/FM Stereo with Cassette Player, this Fairlane was spec'd for long distance country cruising in style.

Vehicles offered for sale through AMCS are the responsibility of the Owner / Seller. AMCS acts as the Seller's agent and relies fully on the information provided by the Seller of the vehicle in the advertising and sale of each vehicle. AMCS takes no responsibility for the accuracy or veracity of the information provided by the Seller.
When a Buyer wishes to speak to the owner or inspect a vehicle listed for sale on the AMCS web site, AMCS will request a copy of the potential buyers driver's license or a business card along with an email address and phone number. This is provided to the seller as confirmation of the legitimacy of the buyer and the seller is then asked to contact the potential buyer to discuss the car and set up an inspection if required.
The Buyer must make his own enquiries and inspections regarding the condition, authenticity and veracity of the vehicle and any statements made by the Seller, and satisfy themselves in all aspects prior to purchasing the car from the Seller. The Buyer understands there is no warranty or guarantee offered by either the Seller or AMCS.
If upon inspection the Buyer is not satisfied with the car for any reason and does not wish to proceed with the purchase the owner is advised and any personal details are deleted from AMCS records.
If the Buyer is satisfied with the car and a price is agreed to with the Seller a formal tax invoice is prepared by AMCS and sent to the Buyer for payment to the AMCS audited Trust Account. AMCS also receives a formal Bill of Sale from the owner stating the car is free of encumbrance and noting banking details for the transaction. Once AMCS receives the total payment cleared into its trust account a transfer is then made to the Seller.
AMCS receives a fee of 7.5% (incl. GST) of the sale price for assisting the Seller to sell the vehicle. There is no fee or Buyer's premium charged to the Buyer.
