1960 Triumph Herald Convertible - One Owner ... (SOLD)

One family owned from new, totally original and unrestored 1960 Triumph Herald Convertible in the original Black and White paint combo now for sale in Naremburn, Sydney Northern Suburbs.

This is a time warp complete and unmolested Triumph Herald Convertible. In excellent original condition, the car was originally purchased by the current owner's great aunt a Miss J.M. Chapman of Ernest Street, Caloundra, Queensland. She originally purchased her pride and joy from Farsley Motors, Brisbane on the 13th of October 1960. The Triumph still wears the original Black and White Queensland number plates NLD-100 as issued to the car in 1960 and noted in the original owners log books. The car is showing 86,438 miles on the odometer.

The car comes also with the original dealer receipt for the car, the Maintenance Voucher Book, the original M.M.I mutual insurance policy and also a set of 1st edition workshop manuals.

The Herald is still painted in the original acrylic paint of the black and white combination colours with the original interior in absolutely stock and original condition. The Herald is generally rust and damage free and the car comes with a excellent soft top, plus a vinyl cockpit cover plus a full set of original tools. The chrome is original and has some pitting and the external driver side rear view mirror has been knocked off. While the mirror is not broken, the bracket on the back of the mirror that clips it onto the car is.

The Herald runs the original 948cc engine, a rarity in the convertible model and features the original white speedometer and switchgear and Wisteria-coloured steering wheel and column nacelle. The 4 speed gearbox has a lovely, accurate feel. Gears are swapped quickly and 60 mph is probably best for cruising. Drum brakes all round are adequate and steering is via a rack and is very precise and coupled with great visibility and low gearing, the Herald makes for a very maneuverable and competent town car.

The Herald comes with several trophies won by the enthusiast owner in various Triumph Concours events over the years. There is also a battery charger dock.

According to Wikipedia, current figures indicate only 580 early (948 cc) cars remaining, 307 being coupés and just 74 being genuine convertibles making this a desirable collectable English classic.
