1969 HK GTS Monaro 307 V8 ... (SOLD)

The sleek, pillarless two-door Monaro was introduced six months after the rest of the HK range but soon took pride of place in Holden dealerships across the country. Its 'boy racer' appeal was universal, the Monaro's shape unashamedly based on the glorious US muscle cars of the time. The pillarless two-door coupe design was a new concept for Australians, and with a choice of three models - Monaro, Monaro GTS and GTS 327, Holden were catering for anyone who aspired to own a sporty coupe.

Even if you were a staunch Ford supporter it was near impossible not to fall in love with the design. It's long, wide body, flared wheel arches and sweeping roofline, black rally stripes, unique wheel trims, paint finishes and a tail panel strip that replicated a full-width tail light were irresistible.

For sale is this stunning genuine 1969 HK Monaro GTS (80737) body # 1,605 which was originally built at the Elizabeth, SA plant and finished in Bright Blue Metallic with Black trim. Restored in the 1990s, the car still presents in beautiful condition throughout. Originally a six cylinder car, now running a period correct 307 Chevrolet engine, 2 speed Powerglide and standard diff making this a lovely family cruiser.

In 1969, the 307's base price of $3,090 was pretty attractive and with the options fitted to this car such as the automatic transmission and floor console - $350, D70 red band tyres - $20.30 and transistor push-button radio - $97.50; taking the total to $3,557.80.

This is a jump in and enjoy car with nothing to spend. The car presents beautifully with lovely paint and super clean factory black vinyl interior. Mechanically the car is dead stock, starts and runs perfectly and has been well serviced, used sparingly and greatly admired where-ever she goes.

Riding on genuine Firestone cross ply tyres including the spare in the boot. Current owner since 2008 has enjoyed this trouble free HK and with a new project on the boil has decided to let this Bright Blue Metallic beast go.
