1971 VH E37 R/T Charger (SOLD)

Wheels magazine's Car of the Year and the star of the "Hey Charger" TV commercial the VH Valiant Charger was widely acclaimed by the motoring press and the motoring public as "...the most handsome car Chrysler has ever produced, and probably the best looking car ever produced by an Australian manufacturer.

While the E38 was the Charger equivalent of the XY GT-HO, the E37 Valiant Charger was the XY GT equivalent. Still packing those wonderful triple sidedraught Weber carburettors on top of the 265 Hemi straight six and producing 248 BHP, the E37 was slightly de-tuned and more at home on the road rather than the race track.

Here we have for sale a genuine and rare 1971 VH E37 R/T Charger tastefully modded to E38 Big Tank spec in the 1980s and repainted at the time from Hot Mustard to Mercury Silver.

The E37 engine was rebuilt, balanced and blue printed in 2008 by Maxwill Race Engines in Adelaide. This tough motor pushes around the 350 hp at the fly wheel and comes with receipts. Running the original 3 speed Borg Warner gearbox with the fabulous boot filling Bathurst fuel tank fitted with dual fillers.

The body is in good condition with no rust, one small dint behind the door on the drivers side and some chips around the engine bay. Recent upgrade to the brakes, suspension and electrical system with receipts.

Interior is in good condition with working gauges, factory radio and option codes in chalk under the crash pad. This is a hard to find Charger model tastefully modified and proven by its long term owner to be an excellent and reliable driver. Full QLD registration. Airlie Beach, QLD car. (Ref. 5212)
