1972 LJ Torana GTR XU1 ... (SOLD)

You can feel Brockie and Bathurst in these Torana XU-1s. Just sitting in the car takes you back to the heyday of motor racing in the early 1970s. The great battle of David and Goliath - Holden versus Ford and Moffat versus Brock. You can still see the XU-1s battling it out in the rain in 1972 and famously taking the Hardie Ferodo 500 Bathurst flag at the end of the day. Brock's first Bathurst win and the Torana that beat the Falcon GTHO Phase 3.

Here we have for sale a genuine 8th month 1972 LJ GTR XU-1 presented in beautiful factory Royal Purple with mostly original Black interior.

Fitted with the factory sturdier replacement NP Nasco XU-1 motor early in its life. With correct XU-1 head, an upgraded intake manifold and electronic ignition. And that wonderful Premium 98 is still pumped through this little beasts veins with the original numbers correct triple CD Strombergs. Gears are swapped through the original M21 gearbox with the factory experimental upgraded hydraulic clutch and the beefier factory installed optional 3.08 Banjo limited slip diff.

Riding on original Bathurst Globe Sprintmaster wheels including correct centre caps and good rubber. Still with its original windscreen and super rare locking Torana fuel cap. Comes with letter of verification from Holden Historical Serivces.

Located in our Kingsgrove Sydney showroom for your inspection. Although the best place to test this baby is surely on the open road. Come and check this XU-1 out, because .... WHEN YOU'RE HOT - YOU'RE HOT! (Ref. 5287)
