You don't see good honest unmolested examples of the LX SS Torana come up like this everyday. Stunning in the factory Atlantis Blue and Black trim combo, this two owner V8 SS Hatch comes with the original Owners log books, original number plates and a full known history. One of the last SS Toranas built, this January 1978 SS was sold through Boyded Holden, Wollongong in June 1978. It is a factory 4.2 litre and T-bar Auto and still retains it's original black trim, radio and very hard to find optional Hatch Hutch.
In the careful hands of the original South Coast, NSW based owner for 28 years, the car was used as their daily driver until age 83. During their ownership, the car received a 2 Pak respray in the 1990s and an exchange GEM 4.2L engine in 2000 with receipts for the exchange engine. In 2006, the car was sold to the second and current owner of 14 years, has always been fully registered and is currently fully registered until Feb 2021.
The interior is all original with the original AM radio still fitted. All the gauges work and with 270,147 klms covered since new the car shows only some wear and tear to the driver’s seat. Otherwise the interior is in excellent condition. This SS is still fitted with the original seat belts, original carpet and there is an original Hatch Hutch with stowage bag with the car.
Mechanically the car is totally stock and super reliable. The engine bay is very original with original decals, Quadrajet carby and standard exhaust manifold. The Torana rides on 14x7 Hotwire mags and comes with the original wheels and original SS wheel trims in excellent condition. Also included are the original keys, original log books, purchase receipts, historical photos and the original jack and a good spare. The historical receipt file details the repaint and the fitting of the towbar, mudflaps, tinted windows, heated rear window and door handle scratch plates.
All the glass is original except for the windscreen. The SS badge in the grille, the aerial and radio are all still original.
This Torana has survived being cut up and modified into another A9X look-a-like, is extremely reliable, drives beautifully and with the 2½" dual exhaust fitted makes a nice old school V8 note.
