1984 VK Group 3 Commodore Replica ... (SOLD)

Built by the current owner who is a well known motor racing driver/builder and enthusiast, this Tuxedo Black 1984 VK Group 3 Brock Replica was built for the purpose of using the car as a road car as well as for use for club sprints, drive days and Tarmac rallies. Owned for over 20 years, this is well sorted and equipped Brock Replica that is ready to be enjoyed by a driving enthusiast. The main build was done 12 years ago and the car has done less than two track days a year over the last ten years and would not have done 10,000 klms on the road in that time. The car drives very well, pulls hard and has done a very respectable 69 second lap time on old R spec Yokohama tyres with the even older (67 year old) owner/driver at Wanneroo Raceway (Barbagallo).

Using a dead straight fuel injected 6 cylinder auto SL and parts from a V8 Auto Berlina. The donor body had never been crashed or repainted and was originally delivered new by Dowding Motors in Kellerberrin, WA. A dry inland town and 99% rust free. The car was totally stripped, paint rubbed back to the original under coat. The car uses a combination of Brock body kits and the entire car was finished in acrylic Tuxedo black paint. All glass was removed, zero rust found under front and rear screen rubbers. Two small rust repairs made to a hole in the boot floor and lower right rear quarter panel. Most panels were dead straight other than a few minor car park dents, there would not be more than a cup full of filler in the whole car.

Inside there are replica Recaro style buckets for road use. Rear seat finished in black velour, black carpet, sports steering wheel, additional oil pressure and water temp gauges.

Mechanically, the VK runs a fuel injected 5 litre (304 cubic inch) VN/VP engine making 275hp at the rear wheels. Only the best parts have been used in the build including Crane solid lifter cam, Yella Terra roller rockers, flat top pistons, double row timing chain, double valve springs, Romac balancer, remote oil cooler with Speed Flow alloy fittings and stainless hose. Chipped computer, pulls hard to 6000 rpm, very streetable. Pacemaker headers, feeding into custom made 3 inch single outlet tail pipe with 3 options for exhaust - a quiet street legal set up with two mufflers rear outlet; a single muffler, louder rear outlet and a Race day loud side pipe with one muffler. All easily interchangeable with bolt up flange adapters. Engine cooling is via a PWR aluminium race radiator with electric fan, oil and power steer coolers.

Gears are swapped via a 5 speed alloy case Toyota Supra box and then through to a VL Borg Warner housing, custom built with KAAZ Competition LSD, 3.45 ratio, 28 spline billet axles (similar to a VL Turbo diff).

Coil over adjustable Koni front shocks with King springs and Whiteline 27mm sway bar. Power steering rack (with large fluid cooler) has just been overhauled. Rear has King springs, adjustable Koni shocks, Whiteline sway bar. Nolathene bushes throughout. All suspension work and setup performed by Wilkinson Suspension in WA. Front 350mm full floating ventilated DBA race rotor, 4 piston HSV calliper (made by AP Racing) Rear 340mm ventilated HSV rotor ( AP “ “ ) same as VZ HSV Cubsport. VT master cylinder and booster. Upgraded front hubs to carry later model rotors and rears modified by Harrop Engineering to take later model brakes, including handbrake mechanism.

The VK is riding on VX , HSV Clubsport 18" by 8" all round 235/40/18 tyres front and 245/40/18 rear.

The car comes with a very fat folder containing thousands of dollars of receipts and relevant information.
