For sale from our Sydney Showroom is a beautifully presented and heavily optioned 1965 Mustang GT Hardtop in Caspian Blue running the matching numbers 289 4V engine and automatic gearbox. Tastefully restomodded to make driving a joy, this GT Mustang is also supplied with the original registered owners manual.

Originally purchased from Benny Jackson Ford in Ringgold, Georgia on the 18th of August, 1965 this factory A Code Mustang GT was ordered in Caspian Blue and optioned with a White Vinyl Roof, factory Power Steering and Air Conditioning.

Rare to find with a full known history, the Mustang had 3 owners from 1965 through to 2007 within a 10 mile radius between Rossville, Georgia and over the border in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In 2007, the GT was imported into Melbourne and subsequently purchased by the current owner in 2010. In 2017, the Mustang underwent a one year bare metal body/paint and mechanical restoration. The GT was repainted in 2 pack Caspian Blue with a Pearl White roof.

Mechanically, the original 289 A-Code engine was rebuilt including a mild Howards camshaft, Advanced Performance machined heads, Hedman shorty headers, Dynomax 2.5” mufflers, Holley 570 Street Avenger carburetor, original Autolite distributor fitted with Pertronix electronic module & coil and a Mustang ’67 big block copper radiator with Ford FG thermo fan. The GT is fitted with a GT350 air scoop to deliver cold air to the Edelbrock air cleaner. The transmission was upgraded to a Ford AOD 4 speed automatic with Silverfox overdrive lockout function, Aeroflow trans cooler and Aeroflow braided stainless plumbing. The 8" diff was upgraded with an Eaton TrueTrac - 3.55 ratio centre.

Suspension upgrades include QA1 USA coilover adjustable front shocks and 1" lowered leaf springs with Koni adjustable shocks.

The GT is running DBA vented front discs with Kelsey Hayes factory callipers rebuilt with stainless pistons, Ford XB Falcon PBR booster + PBR Master cylinder. The rear drum brakes have also been rebuilt with stainless steel pistons and sleeves fitted.

A Borgeson power steering unit has replaced the Ford Power Steering Ram. And a modern Sanden Compressor has replaced the Ford unit ensuring ice cold Air Conditioning is now on tap.

The whole electrical system has been rewired and a Bosch high amp alternator fitted. All accessories are now controlled by fused relays, the Thermo fan has a high speed override switch and Hella H4 bases with Philips H4 lamps are fitted along with the standard GT fog lamps protected by dedicated fused relays in the engine bay.

Importantly, the Mustang GT comes with the original registered owners manual, service history, a photo and receipt file for restoration works and import paperwork. Also included in the sale is the original bonnet, a Ford style soft indoor car cover, a Mustang tote bag, a 50 year Mustang celebration tool box and a show display sign board plus Mustang Workshop Manual. Also available by negotiation is a set of 15” Torq Thrust D chrome mags fitted with Bridgestone Potenza tyres (see Spare in the boot).
