1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 ... (SOLD)

As we now all know thanks to 'Ford Vs. Ferrari' the movie, Ford's partnership with Carroll Shelby started with Henry Ford II wanting to build a Ford that would beat Ferrari at Le Mans. Enter WWII flight instructor turned chicken farmer turned race car driver turned builder of legendary automobiles, Carroll Shelby, and the rest is history.

With their partnership Carroll Shelby developed what are some of Ford's most iconic, valuable and highly collectible muscle cars. From the first AC Ace into which Shelby planted a small block Ford V8 and later the enormous 427 cubic inch FE side oilers, the Le Mans multi winning GT40s through to the widely acclaimed Shelby Mustangs, of which the '67 series was so influential that design elements of this model year feature strongly in today's modern Shelby GT500s.

“Seven liters! Four hundred and twenty-eight cubic inches in a Mustang!” reported Car and Driver Magazine in February, 1967. Yes, the GT500 was fitted with the new ‘Cobra Le Mans’ 7.0 litre Police Interceptor big block V8, gulping fuel through dual 600cfm Holley four-barrel carburettors to produce a conservatively rated 355hp and a cataclysmic 570Nm of torque to its rear wheels.

This is without doubt one of the ultimate 60’s Ford muscle cars, and highly coveted and revered by collectors world-wide!
