1970 XW GT Falcon (SOLD)

The Australian public had never seen anything like it before. Out of the blue came a car that broke all the rules. This was not a car for the conservatives. Big and bold with black out bonnets, lairy side stipes, chrome GT badging, a Super roo emblazoned on the front guard, bonnet pins, an air duct and under the bonnet a 351 Cleveland V8. And boy did Ford get the formula right. 2,287 XW GTs were sold by Ford. Nearly 3,000 if you add in the GTHOs. And nothing shouts GT more that the race bred colour known in the Ford vernacular as Track Red.

For sale is this stunning example of the XW GT Falcon sold originally through Askew P/L, Timboon, Vic. This well known XW GT has full history back to the late 70s and still wears all it's day one factory panels as well as it's original Victorian issued number plates. It has recently undergone an external bare metal repaint in early 2020 and this included polishing all the original bright work and chrome. The car is now an absolute Standout!!

The GT features all it's original drive line from the factory matching numbers 351 4V Cleveland, original 4 speed Top Loader gearbox and 9" diff. The current owner has recently rebuilt the original engine. All the day one components are still with the car including crank, rods, pistons, original carby, original 3.25 diff gears etc. All receipts for the restoration work come with the car!

Importantly, the GT still features the original day one paint in the engine bay, door jambs and boot compartment. It also features all its original glass with the exception of the windscreen and features the original dealer sticker on the rear window. The undercarriage is in mint condition with the original 8/70 date coded shock absorbers and factory correct upper and lower ball joints and tie rods still in place and in mint condition.

The interior is all day one including the hood-lining, visors, crash pad, original dash facia, glovebox woodgrain, mint unrestored steering wheel, seat belts, front and rear seats, door trims etc.

The engine bay presents with correct Auto lite distributor, exhaust manifolds, Fomoco radiator and Bakerlite fan shroud, correct battery terminals, factory wiper motor and washer bottle from day one, all original paint, decals and paint markings. As you will be aware, these original parts are getting super hard to source nowadays.

The boot compartment features the optional 16 gallon fuel tank and amazingly the original mint boot mat is still in place. A genuine spare 5 slot fitted with an era correct Dunlop Aquajet tyre is in the boot along with the original factory jack and bag, correct day one breather line, boot light and of course day one paint!

This 8/70 GT rides on it's factory correct genuine rivetted 5 slot rims with excellent as new redwall tyres.

There are not many original survivor cars left these days and these are the cars collectors choose because of their unquestionable authenticity. Don't miss this unique opportunity to acquire this very rare genuine GT. Northern Suburbs, Melbourne based car for your inspection. Or if travel is difficult, AMCS will gladly arrange a video inspection of the car using WhatsApp and of course there is no issue with door to door freight delivery anywhere in Australia or New Zealand.
