1977 Chevrolet Camaro - Ex Cannon Ball Run
In the hands of the current car enthusiast owner, this 1977 Chevrolet Camaro entered the C2C Express 2904 Cannonball Outlaw Underground Road Race running from the Red Ball Garage in New York City to the Coit Tower in San Francisco. Entered as the "Outlaw Moonshine Runners", the Chevy left NYC at 1.37PM on the 21st October, 2017 and set out on the non stop Coast to Coast trip across America as Cannonballers have done for many years now. In just over 40 hours of non stop driving, the two drivers made it to their destination.
This Camaro is now a part of Cannonball race history and comes complete with photos and documentation of the run including all fuel receipts, toll receipts and two photo albums with photos of the run and race documentation.
The glove box has been signed by Ed Bolian, Word Record Cannonball holder who crossed America from NYC to Los Angeles in 2013 in 28 hours and 50 minutes. It is also signed by Arne Toman who won the 2904 Cannonball run from NYC to San Francisco in a record breaking time of 31 hours and 45 minutes (In 2019 Toman bested Bolian's record NYC to Los Angeles in 27 hours 25 minutes)
The Camaro has covered 96,000 miles. It was a One Owner California car prior to the Cannonball race. The current owner has recently resprayed the car and found it to be a rust and damage free body. It runs the original 350 Chev motor and Turbo 350 automatic gearbox. And it still has the Original Factory 8 track Player with Tapes. The Camaro comes with the original GMH production line Broadcast sheet. Currently the owner has upgraded the wheels to Z28 style mags but the original as raced Rally wheels, vinyl roof and all LT chrome moulds are included in the sale.
The current owner has recently spent $NZ2,800 on the car which includes brake work and a brand new High rise Manifold with 650 Four Barrell Holley Carb with receipts. The Camaro had a new Battery fitted and the radiator reconditioned prior to the race in 2017 to make sure that it was reliable and wouldn’t break down. It has just recently been through New Zealand compliancing and is fully registered in New Zealand.
