Specifications:

The original Barry Sharp race car was destroyed in August 1971 at Amaroo Park Raceway.

This Tribute car is now an accurate replica of Barry Sharp's 1971 Series Production GT Falcon. Featuring 351 Cleveland, top loader gearbox, 9" LSD. Colour is Electric blue/Ultra White. Roll cage is recreated as it was in 1971.

The original race car was a GT not a GTHO. Brabham figured that he would sell more GTs than GTHOs so decided to show the prowess of the standard GT. Then the team came up with the idea to option up Falcons and Fairmonts with flashy paint and all the hot bits and sell these as performance cars. One of the main reasons was to try to dodge the stigma of the high performance supercars and avoid the high insurance premiums that these cars were attracting at the time. So the Brabham Specials were based on the race car that the team campaigned.

Barry Sharp and the Brabham team are believed to be the only ones that raced an XY GT. According to Barry Sharp, the XY GT was quite successful against the other teams XW GTHOs especially on the shorter tracks. The HOs big cam and diff ratio made it a more difficult car to move off the line than the standard XY GT.

The car has just recently had a full engine rebuild, new exhaust, new radiator and new race tyres. The car can be road registered if required with only change to tyres and exhaust modification.
