So here you go. A car that took nearly 4 years to build up to the level of show winner two times and a third in the first showing.

The car in total cost me over $45k dollars with may hidden costs and some very eye opening costs. The engine alone costs around $15k - 20k once built up. I have most if not all the receipts for the parts. All the parts I sourced from the USA which worked out cheaper than buying them locally.

The body shell was off a 68 bug with no rust at all only a pushed in front and back apron which I replaced with the early 6 volt type and then the rest of the car followed the early look theme. The fuel flap was filled as was the antennae hole next to the windscreen the early deck lid was vented using the old vents from a 70 Bug and grafted into the early deck lid. An early pope nose was fitted as were oval tail lights and early bumpers. The chrome trim is stainless steel and wider again to match the early theme the running boards are blue to match the color of the car as is the piping all genuine VW back in the 60's. A heavy chrome dash trim stripe and radio block out plate complete the early look inside with the subtle auto meter gauges. All the dash knobs are ivory and band new.

The body shell was totally sand blasted and painted with a two pack red brown etch primer the same day and didn't leave the panel shop until fully painted.
