1968 Holden HK Monaro GTS 327 Bathurst - Picardy Red … (Dep.Taken)

For sale a genuine fully restored '68 HK GTS Bathurst Monaro 327 V8 in Picardy Red and Black trim for inspection at our Sydney Showroom.

Holden's designers got it right the first time with the super sleek, pillarless two-door Monaro. It's long, wide body, pillarless side windows, flared wheel arches and sweeping roofline, black rally stripes, unique wheel trims, paint finishes and a tail panel strip that replicated a full-width tail light were irresistible. And the Wyong Motors entered HK 327 Monaro of Bruce McPhee and Barry Mulholland left no question marks that this was a car with the brawn as well as the beauty by winning the Hardie-Ferodo 500 at Bathurst in 1968. In fact the HK 327 Monaro filled 1st, 2nd, 3rd and fifth places in the Great Race of 1968 cementing the Monaro as one of Holden's All Stars!

Presented FOR SALE is a stunning example of the HK GTS Bathurst Monaro 327. In show condition throughout, this Monaro is finished in the factory Picardy Red with Black trim. To present the car in the most honest light, we have had a well known Monaro expert inspect the car and his assessment is that the car is a genuine 1968 HK 327 Bathurst Monaro running a period correct 327 V8 engine. Furthermore, while the larger of the two compliance plates is correct and matches the Chassis number, the long thin VIN plate is not from this particular car. So somewhere along the way, the original compliance plate has been lost and replaced with another 81837 VIN plate.

So while this might preclude this car from the purchase by a perfectionist, this might just be the right choice for the enthusiast who wants to drive and enjoy their Monaro while paying significantly less at the time of purchase.

Concours restored, this GTS presents in showroom condition throughout and features a genuine period correct small block Bathurst 327 engine, the original Rochester Quadrajet carby, original exhaust manifolds, spark plug heat shields, big nut master braking system, AC Delco fuel pump and factory quad exhaust outlets. The gearbox is the factory Saginaw 4 speed manual and 10 Bolt Salisbury LSD. The engine bay has been detailed to exact factory specifications and is immaculate.

The Monaro features many hard to find NOS parts including the blue tip aerial, tail light housings and boot molds, badging, hubcaps, Lucas headlights and many interior items.

The interior of the HK has been restored with new black trim, genuine crash pad, new carpets, door trims and roof lining. The original steering wheel has also been restored and all the gauges work as does the factory AM radio. The dash chrome and timber finish have also been restored. The car is showing 6,654 miles since the Monaro was restored. The GTS is supplied with two sets of keys.

The Monaro features the signature NOS GTS wheel covers, excellent wheel arch molds and genuine Firestone Supersport red walled tyres. Even the underside of the GTS is presented in Concours condition with the factory purple tailshaft.

This is a jump in and enjoy car with nothing to spend. Mechanically the car is dead stock, starts and runs perfectly and has been well serviced, used sparingly and greatly admired where-ever she goes.
