1973 HQ Belmont Ute 308 V8 4 speed

SOLD  $135,000

We are all well aware of the hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on high end Aussie muscle cars like GT Falcons, Toranas and Chargers. What you may not be aware of is the time, effort and money being lavished on other rare and special cars such as this 1973 HQ Belmont Ute.

Now for sale is this UNBELIEVABLE example of the humble HQ Belmont work horse. Factory ordered in Glacier White with Chestnut vinyl interior, this unique Belmont ute was also factory ordered with the esteemed high performance options; the revered L31 308 V8, M21 4 speed manual gearbox and 3.55 lsd diff. On top of that, the original owner further ticked the option boxes for factory integrated Air conditioning, Bucket seats, Center console, GTS Dash and GTS Steering wheel.

In other words, this is a factory built GTS Ute. And to top it all off, it still features the original Owner's Log books from new!

The current owner/restorer has lavished well over $100,000 to bring this car up to better than showroom condition with a ground up nut and bolt restoration completed in 2019. This included blue printing and balancing the matching numbers 308 motor, rebuilding the gearbox and diff, plus fitting a full stainless exhaust front to back painted in ceramic coated high temp black paint so as to look stock. On top of this power steering and GTS road wheels were added. The whole restoration is documented with photos and receipts.

And would you believe it, the interior is all original. That tells you how bloody good this car was to start with. Of course everything has been checked, recalibrated, rebuilt so that it all works perfectly. The original integrated air-conditioning has been rebuilt and blows icy cold. The gauges have been recalibrated. The steering column has been refurbished with new bearings. The indicator switch assembly and steering wheel have been refurbished. The window winders, wiring loom are all restored. The heater core has been replaced. Nothing and we mean nothing has been left to chance. This is an A-grade restoration as seen on the best high-end Aussie muscle, and fittingly lavished on this ultra rare and super desirable Belmont ute.

This special HQ comes with a Holden Historical Services letter of Verification noting the car was originally sold through City Motors in Perth in January 1974 and confirms the driveline combination and build specification.

AMCS's recommendation; given the meteoric rise experienced by the K code 351 Falcon utes of the same era, we firmly believe any surviving 5 litre 4 speed HQ utes are equally worthy of such a stratospheric rise in values. When was the last one you saw?!

Located in Perth, WA for your inspection. And if you are unable to travel due to Covid restrictions, AMCS will gladly arrange a video inspection/road test of the car using WhatsApp, and of course there is no issue with door to door freight delivery anywhere in Australia or New Zealand. (Ref. 5545)
