The name Torana is derived from an Aboriginal word meaning "To Fly", and in the hands of Peter Brock he would make the Torana do just that around Mount Panorama. With his legendary six lap win in the 1977 Bathurst 1000, the LX SS Torana Hatchback became one of the most sought after Australian Muscle Cars and certainly one of Holden's finest.

For sale from Perth, WA is a very special example, that literally ticks all the boxes!

2214 - Tuxedo Black factory paint - Check!
18V - Slate black Golf ball trim - Check!

According to the experts there were only 10 Tuxedo black SS Hatchbacks built. Seven automatics and three manuals. So this example is super RARE!

And boy does this SS Torana look tough. With dealer fitted A9X flares, bonnet scoop, A9X chrome bumpers, genuine A9X 14 x 7" wheels, this is one great looking SS Torana. Add to this the factory installed radio and dealer fitted Mark 1V air-conditioning (not installed but all parts supplied) and you've got one hell of a muscle car package.

This SS was rotisserie restored in 2018 and presents in as new condition. The SS runs the all matching numbers HT prefixed L31 5 litre V8 fully rebuilt to stock specifications. The car still retains its original 4 barrel Rochester carby, manifold, heads etc. The M21 gearbox and factory LSD diff are also original to this car and have been fully reconditioned. The original owner was from Canberra and he retained the car for 15 years ago. Prior to  his sale of the car to the second owner the SS had been off the road since 1986. The car comes with its original dealer sticker from Mantello Motors, Faulkner, ACT still on the rear window plus the original Mark 1V air-conditioning sticker. The SS also comes with a letter of verification from GMH.

The interior is the all original slate black golf ball trim, from the door cards to the seats except for new hood lining which had to be replaced when the car was repainted. All the gauges work and the car has all new wiring including the original battery terminals and comes with the dealer installed AM radio. The original owner also had a dealer fitted Clarion cassette player fitted when new.

This Tuxedo Black Hatchback is hugely collectible in its own right as a super rare survivor example of the fully optioned SS Torana in a super rare and sort after colour combination.

No doubt this is truly Holden hot property. Located in Perth, WA for your private inspection. (Ref: 6810]
