Now for sale is a unique 2011 VE SSV Redline, performance enhanced by Patterson Cheney of Holden Racing fame. Located in the Yarra Valley, Melbourne.

Anyone with an interest in Holdens and Holden motor racing will know that Patterson Cheney, a successful Melbourne based Holden Dealer, has been involved in Australian motorsports for around 50 years. In fact in the 1950s, Bill Patterson began his motor racing career winning the 1954 Australian Hillclimb Championship at Collingrove in South Australia and in the same year competed in the Redex Around Australia Trial, finishing second outright behind Jack Murray in a Peugeot.

The Dealership is best known for their involvement in Group C motor racing including their involvement with Harry Firth's Holden Dealer Team during the early development of the Bathurst Holden Torana XU1s.

In the mid 70s Bill Patterson Holden won the contract to modify the Torana A9X race cars which were trucked to the Dealership in Ringwood, where wheel arch flares were added and other minor modifications made, before being sent back to Holden in Dandenong for distribution to the Holden race teams.

In 1976 Peter Brock obtained a sponsorship package for his Team Brock Torana L34 from Bill Patterson to run at Bathurst and finished third outright.

During this time Bill Patterson BMW purchased a South African race prepared BMW 3.5 CSL for Peter Brock to take and compete at the 1976 24hr Le Mans.

1977 saw Peter Brock sell his racing team to Bill Patterson. It was then renamed Bill Patterson Racing and a three car team was sent to Bathurst. Brock and brother Phillip finished fourth outright, Doug Chivas/Tony Roberts finished seventh and Gerry Marshall and Basil Van Rooyan DNF.

In 2009 Patterson Cheney joined forces with the new Kelly Racing V8 Supercar team, supplying two Westar prime movers to haul the team all over Australia. And in 2010 the three-car team of Brad Jones Racing/Team BOC had the Westar truck branding on the rear of their V8 Supercars.

With this commitment to motor racing it's no wonder that Patterson Cheney offered it's customers a performance enhancement package known as "Race Sport" on the VE model Commodore.

The Race Sport range as it was known focused on getting the most out of the 6.0-litre L77 V8 engine without heading down the forced induction route. Three performance packages were available in the Race Sport range. RS327, which delivered 327kW of power with performance enhancements that include headers, a 2.5 inch exhaust, cold air intake system and progressive rate lowered springs. The RS350, delivering 350kW power output and 660Nm of torque via a revolutionary over the radiator cold air intake system, Bilstein shock absorbers and a custom PCM tune, in addition to the RS327 modifications. And a more track focused RS400T which delivered 400kW and features RPC coated tubular headers with integral high flow cats, hand built and welded 3 inch exhaust, over the radiator cold air intake system, K&N air filter, custom PCM tuning, custom camshaft, valve springs, chrome molly retainers and titanium locks.

For sale is this 2011 Holden VE Commodore SSV Redline "Race Sport" RS350. Build No. 55 is presented in unmarked Sting Red and has covered a genuine log booked 29,480 km from new.

From the moment you turn the RS350 over, you know this car means business. A menacing idle offers a hint of the performance on hand. The 2.5" exhaust system is hand built and welded and suits the 6.0-litre V8 down to a tee. It’s under throttle that the RS350 really begins to heighten the senses. From around 3000rpm onward the RS350 begins to bellow loud enough to be heard three blocks away. The progressive acceleration and linear power delivery is one of the main advantages of a naturally aspirated system.

Enhancements continue with Bilstein shock absorbers and progressive rate, German built lowered springs delivering a firm race inspired ride.

And cosmetically, the package delivers in a more subtle way than a HSV with leather red and black trim with optional red steering wheel and gear knob, stunning 20" HSVi SuperSport alloy wheels and the signature Race Sport exhaust tips. This combines to makes this a VE with plenty of go and just enough show. The car is still riding on the original tyres with plenty of tread. And the spare has never been on the car.

This is an ultra low mileage example of an unique VE SSV Holden in unmarked condition throughout. Currently unregistered and in storage to preserve the low mileage. Can be supplied with a Victorian road worthy certificate if required.
