Built in January 1976 as one of the last of the LH model, this Sunburst SL Torana was originally used by the current family owner as a daily driver from 1993. In 2007, the owner decided to fully restore the Torana. The car was stripped to a bare shell and the rust and damage free body was repainted in the original Sunburst Metallic. The flares and bonnet scoop are genuine SL/R aftermarket spares and the reverse cowl bonnet scoop is operational. At the same time the bumper bars were re-chromed and the stainless was polished. All glass is original except for the windscreen and a new rubber kit was fitted.

One the inside, the Torana has been retrimmed with genuine SL/R black trim with Gold custom inserts to match the exterior colour. The dash is original with a genuine 177,709 Kilometres on the clock with aftermarket Autometer Tacho, oil and temp gauges. The steering wheel is an aftermarket SAAS wheel and the gears are selected via a B&M shifter.

Power comes from a big dollar 355ci stroker VT roller block with quality internals including Scat Pro H beam conrods, 11.1 comp, ARP main studs, Pavteck girdle, Felpro gaskets, a High Volume oil pan, Solid street roller camshaft with Crane Ultra Pro roller lifters, Come Racing B Cast heads, Yella Terra rockers, a high volume oil pump, a 750cfm Quickfuel carby and Crane H16 ignition with an adjustable 7,200 RPM limiter.

Gears are swapped via a strengthened shift kitted Trimatic with forward pattern, a 3500 Allfast 9.5” torque converter and a Final drive tailshaft. This runs through to a 9" diff with 28 spline heavy duty axles, rebuilt and tightened LSD centre, 3.89 Strange Engineering Gears and new bearings and seals.

Suspension is Lovell springs all round with Koni adjustable shocks. Braking is PBR Hopper Stoppers with vented disc brakes on the front and HQ stud pattern drum brakes on the rear.

The Torana is running on Billet Specialties GTS 15" wheels with 225/50x15 Nankang tyres on the front and 245/50x15 Dunlop on the rear. The boot is custom finished with black SL/R vinyl finish as per the interior trimming with a Holley HP 150 electric fuel pump, regulator and fire extinguisher. The boot is finished off nicely with a stainless steel polished plate imprinted with GMH GRNT.
